Documents
Documents are the most direct part of Deerlight: anything you do not want to explain twice can become a document.
Design decisions, team conventions, runbooks, and lessons learned become directly available to connected AI assistants.
Write and edit
Create and edit Markdown under Documents, or upload an existing file.
A connected AI assistant can create and update documents as well. Each change is recorded in version history with its editor, whether that was you or an assistant.
Versions
Every save creates a new version. You can:
- read the complete content of any historical version;
- see what changed in a particular edit;
- restore content from an earlier version.
Restoring does not erase history. Deerlight appends a new version whose content comes from the version you selected. Version numbers only move forward, and the restore itself remains visible and reversible.
Organization
The document tree groups material by project and shelf. As a project grows, use shelves to keep related documents together.
How assistants read documents
An assistant does not have to load a long document all at once. It can jump to a heading or read a bounded section, so a detailed runbook does not need to overwhelm its working context.
Delegate organization
Some documents are easier for an assistant to prepare, such as a clean summary of a long working session. Ask the assistant to organize the material and write the result back to Deerlight, then edit it if needed.
When delegated work finishes, Deerlight shows a notification in the navigation until you review it.
